Beliefs

 

Carl believes strongly in an education system that enables boys and girls of all abilities and backgrounds to achieve through good Teaching & Learning. In particular, he believes in a curriculum that is diverse and offers all students a wide choice of subjects in order that they may fulfil their potential in formal examinations. Design and Technology has an important role to play for many pupils and he believes that our subject needs to be well resourced and led by professionals with clear vision.

Background

 

Carl is an experienced teacher who has taught in three mixed comprehensives in both city and rural locations and he has led a highly successful Design and Technology faculty in a large mixed comprehensive school in Wiltshire. The team were awarded the prestigious Design Mark and the school was also designated as a lead school for Design and Technology by the National College in recognition of its outstanding student performance within the context of a thriving Design and Technology curriculum. 

 

Support and Training

 

Carl is a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) who has had whole school responsibility for raising the standards of Teaching & Learning in his own school and who has supported colleagues in North Wiltshire Primary and Secondary schools by facilitating the OLEVI programmes for the Avon TSA. In order to attract the very best teachers into the teaching profession, Carl also works for Bath Spa University recruiting students to the PGCE course and by providing support for Early Career Teachers (ECT).
